Destination: Deal Island, MD
We arrived at Deal Island with a sound asleep Nora, after an hour straight of screaming. She just wanted out of the VAN! She endured 20 hours over 3 days stuck in the car seat and just couldot handle another minute. So I pulled over and just by pure luck, was an...

Lost Sole #371 Dedication
Tucked away in the Blackwater River State Forest, north of the beaches and far from the hustle and bustle of the tourists, is a magical place called Adventures Unlimited situated on the banks of Coldwater Creek. It is an outdoor enthusiast’s heaven. You can kayak clear, spring-fed creeks, mountain bike the local Black Bear Lake trail, or hike the Juniper Creek trail. And for those that like the rush of adrenaline there is a zip line canopy tour with 14 platforms that allow you to shoot across tree tops and rivers.
The Goshen Green Fog
One thing Skippy is known for unfortunately, has been his flatulants, or farts as most people refer to them. Ever since I can remember it has been a problem. However Skippy has had fun with his “talent”.
A story that goes way back, back when we around 12 years old, is from our trip to Hershey. We never actually made it to Hershey as we got into trouble for horsing around and his mom punished us by bypassing Hershey but I digress.
Noah’s makes his presence known on his B-day
We make a point to celebrate our little boy Noah’s birthday every year. It is a very hard day for us yet very special and one we look forward to. Sometimes it does not make sense to call it his birthday as he was never born that day. While Sharon did deliver him physically, his spirit had already passed on. He never took a breath.
A ritual we do as a family is got to the same place on the beach and release balloons up to him with Happy Birthday wishes on them. And not to let Nora out we let her send up a pink balloon . . .
CNN.com iReport Spotlights the Hamilton Family
A solitary flip-flop sits in the white sand of Pensacola, Florida, with chunky bits of goo spilled on top and to the side like chocolate sauce. The large amount of oil that washed on shore June 23 had just marred the coastline. Randy Hamilton spots the sandal,...
A true lost soul hanging with lost soles at a bus stop
When I moved into our new place I met the neighbor, Chip, very early on who owns a sign shop across the street. We hit it off pretty well as he is an artist as well, and we share many of the same views and interests. During one of our first chats he told me about a...

Lost Sole #360 and my BP oil spill outrage
Today I went out to Pensacola Beach for a quick photoshoot for work. On the way home I decided to check out our beaches and see if there was oil on them as result of the huge waves churned up by Hurricane Alex. While I did not see the "tar mats" like I saw last time I...
Lost Sole Dedication to the Fort Pickens Dolphin
It is the morning after I went out to Pensacola Beach to view the oil slick that had finally washed ashore from the BP disaster. The beach was surreal. The parking lot was full of TV crews and their trucks with giant satellite dishes perched on top. All lined up to report on the latest happenings. I have seen this here before during hurricane season’s . . .

Best of the 365 Project: February 2010
It has been a very busy few months and I fell behind a bit on my projects. I am taking steps to getting caught up and this was the first one. I want to note, this marks the first time I made the cover be one of the contributor's images instead of mine. I am really...
Momentos
Momento- noun: A souvenir; a reminder of past events. Momentos. When I sit back and look around my office I am surrounded by them. In fact I seem to be surrounded by them wherever I go. They are little things that trigger a memory for me of a person, place or time,...
Outside Magazine uses excerpt from Randy’s letter to the editor
Recently I submitted a letter to the editor after reading an article about shoes washing up in Vancouver with feet still in them. (here is a link to the lost sole blog entry I wrote where I copied the article into the bottom) Of course it struck a cord with me so I...

This past week I was asked by the Publisher of Snowbirds magazine, Karen Harrell, to travel to Panama City and shoot a senior couple for the cover of the March issue. The couple were from Ontario, Canada. She has become somewhat famous for being the woman who sewed...
Lost Sole Dedication to Phil Harris
Yesterday Phil Harris, the captain of the Cornelia Marie and one of the stars of the hit show Deadliest Catch passed away. Lost Sole #346 is dedicated to Phil Harris, found in Port Charlotte, FL the day he passed. He had a colorful personality, which makes this shoe somewhat fitting, although he was not flashy, just honest and real.
Part II: Sean goes to Tiajuana
I will pick this story up from a somewhat foggy, foggy as in mentally foggy, night out in Vegas when we were scheduled to trek to California in the morning. It was around 2 a.m. and for whatever reason, could have had something to do with Tequila shots, we decided we...

Looking back on another decade gone by
This past decade, which I am not sure what to call it as the 70s, 80s and 90s just came natural to say, I guess it is the two thousands?? Anyway it was a very eventful decade for me, full of huge highs and very, very lows. I saw marriages come and go, eventually...
Memories of Christmas Past
During this Christmas as I watched a Christmas Story for the thousandth time, and it just keeps getting better. While watching it I found myself reminiscing about past Christmases of my own. That movie, like for many other people I suspect, just has a way of conjuring...
Christmas 2009
The big thing this Christmas was that it was Nora's first! Even though she is too young to enjoy or have any idea what is going on, her parents sure had fun. We started the Christms cheer with going to the Mall to see Santa a few days before Christmas. Again, it was...

I have been noticing that there are more and more photos being taken of lost shoes and being titled lost soles than I ever before on the web. When I first started this project I was one of the only ones taking them. I know I was not the first to start noticing and...
