We arrived at Deal Island with a sound asleep Nora, after an hour straight of screaming. She just wanted out of the VAN! She endured 20 hours over 3 days stuck in the car seat and just couldot handle another minute. So I pulled over and just by pure luck, was an upscale gated subdivision with the gate wide open. We drove in and stopped along the fountains at the entrance. I got out with Nora and immediately she stopped crying. She loves fountains and moving water. After holding her and rocking side to side she was out like a light, she had worn herself out. She slept theext hour, and then after we got there kept on sleeping through theight as it was 1:00 a.m. when we finally arrived.<\/p div id=\"attachment_3717\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\" style=\"width: 535px\">\"Taken<\/p>\n

nWe were in Deal Island during the labor day weekend in which they have a large Skipjack (wooden sailing ship) Race and Festival, in the past I had set up and sold photographs I had taken in year’s past of the Skipjacks and around Deal Island. I had brought with me my tent and table to set up along with a hodge-podge of photos left over from past shows. Since the photos alone wouldot be enough to even pay for the booth fees, I decided to draw charcoal drawings of the ships. I did it in the past and it was a pretty big hit so I thought I would give it a go again. In addition I had several One Shoe Diaries books and my banner with me so I set those out as well.<\/p p>\n

It was beautiful day. I drew for hours and created 10 drawings overall and sold 9 of them, the last I gave to Nanny. I soldearly every photo as well. Overall it was a great day. I always enjoy talking with people about my One Shoe Diaries and getting to just draw all day was a treat in itself. I even managed to squeeze in a photo shoot with Nora, Sharon, Rachie, Cookie and Tammy.<\/p p>Theext day we went out for lunch at a little seafood eatery called Beach to Bay Seafood Company just up the road from Deal Island in the small quaint town of Princess Anne. A very informal place, butice. It has been written about favorably in many eviews and labeled as a must-stop place to eat on an eastern shore road trip. It didot disappoint. I had a grouper sandwich that was huge with a side of the cream of crab. Both were delicious. Nanny had a cup of Clam Chowder that she said was the best she ever had, and that is saying a lot as she knows her chowders.<\/p p>For more stories involving Deal Island follow the links below:
